a bite of the apple

I've never been to New York City. Yes, I am a provincial Southern Boy, and I kinda like the woods, the corn fields, the cotton-bottoms and the pine trees around where I live. But I've always wanted to go see the Big City, just so I could say that I did it.

After reading this series of posts, I'm not so sure anymore. Just start at the top and scroll down.

I think it's kinda scary.

Having lived here for six odd years, and having seen exactly zero rats, I can safely say he's full of it.

As for pigeons, we have those, but they're New York pigeons, so they're as likely to kick your ass as get out of your way.

If you ever decide to come up here, give me a call. We'll do lunch. :)

This Southerner lived in New York for four years. The City is great, despite its autistic politics.

Mr Lion,

Go to the Union Square subway station. I can guarantee that you will see rats and they will be about the size of big cats. Anytime of the day will do. Also check out the Wall Street Staion of the 2 and 3 trains. Same thing. They are everywhere.

Went to NYC for the first time in Feb and had a great time. It's odd that everything seemed much smaller than I expected (including the hotel room). Hell, I have rats in my back yard. What's so special about rats?

Good food everywhere.

It's worth the trip at least once. It's also helpful if you know someone there to sort of guide you around, get theater tickets, make suggestions, etc. It truly is the big apple. Complete with worms.

Dick,

I've been through the wall street station on the 2 line several times, never seen one there, or in the zillion other stations I've been in. Even some of the really festive ones in east harlem.

I think they all moved to San Francisco for the handouts.
