April 25, 2005sad newsI hated to read about this. Dan Fogleberg is a wonderful musician and songwriter and he's probably younger than I am. He has "advanced prostate cancer." Those of you not familiar with the disease may not know what that means, but I do. The cancer spread beyond the prostate capsule, which is what made it "advanced," and it's probably gonna kill him now. That's a crying shame. "DanFogelberg.com regrets to announce the cancellation of the Fall 2004 Solo Acoustic Tour. Dan has been recently diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer and has entered treatment. He apologizes for any inconvenience the cancellation of the concerts may cause his fans. Dan is confident he will be able to fight this illness. Your prayers, good wishes and positive thoughts will be very much appreciated."

I hope it goes "slow below the surface" for him. Damn, I hate to hear that about anyone! You pegged it, tho,,, I just hope he knows how to "Go Down Easy." Posted by: Michele on April 25, 2005 02:43 PMThanks for bringing this to everyones' attention. I was lucky enough to see him on tour in June 2003. He is a great musician and many people don't realize all the hit songs he has had. Posted by: Denise on April 25, 2005 02:44 PMAs a PCa survivor, I shuddered when I saw the word "advanced." Advanced prostate cancer is what took out Jerry Orbach. I hope they can treat it and give Dan a longer life. Guys, do you know what your PSA is? Is it higher than last time? You...don't...know? *shakes head, gets down off soap box* Posted by: Ernie G on April 25, 2005 02:44 PMDamn. That sucks. I'm with you on the well wishes. Posted by: Wichi Dude on April 25, 2005 09:13 PMJust plain sucks. Helluva musician. I think he has been extremely underated. Posted by: Dean on April 25, 2005 10:29 PMDan Foglebergs music has always been with me and I will always be a fan, I pray he makes a full recovery and comes across to Newcastle England so that I can see one of the Greatest singer/songwriters off all time I am so sorry to here about Dan. I have loved his music and been a fan since 1976. I am from his home state of Illinois, now residing in Kansas. I'll keep Dan in my prayers and his music in my heart. To the morning! Posted by: Susie on April 3, 2006 08:40 PMHello. I'm new to this site. I'm 26 and have been listening to Dan Fogelberg "Longer" than I can remember. Thanks to my mom and dad, I'm pretty sure I heard it in utero. I agree that this is most horrible news for a gifted musician, songwriter, fellow Illinois native, and good human being. My thoughts are with Dan, his friends, and his family. I hope the treatment he's seeking will be worth it. Posted by: redsweetie on April 4, 2006 08:41 AMMay GOD bless you Dan & give you The inner strength, physical strength ,& Spiritual strength to get through this non-discrimitory cancer. My thoughts & prayers are for-ever with you. your music will forever move me Posted by: Beth on February 11, 2007 09:03 PMOh my gosh! I was sadly blown away to hear of Dan Fogelberg's death. What a loss for all of us, such talent! Take the Phoenix album...wrote the music, wrote the lyrics, played the instruments, did the vocals, and designed the album cover himself. How many "artists" today can do all that??? it is so sad that his fight has ended. i loved his music and sadly the person who said under rated was right. today mentioning dans passing to a few ppl i received a shock when they couldnt place his name.. he will be missed who knew his name and those who only knew the music. any kind of cancer is horrible.. you will be missed but never forgotten.
